Homemade Christmas Gift

I’m making homemade Christmas gift baskets this year. And I’m planning on making oreo bon bons, peppermint bark, puppy chow, and (possibly) chocolate covered pretzel sticks. But I’m wanting to also make something that’s not sweet. Any ideas of something that is easy to make and not costly that I can add to the baskets? Thanks! =D

There is a good article on making gift baskets and what to put in them at this blog, http://kidoozy.com/blog/?p=435, it also has links to ideas for food to make too.

Have fun!
It sounds yummy already.

  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Pecans; finely ground
  • 2 tablespoons Ground crystallized ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Splenda Brown Sugar Blend

  1. Mix everything together and store in the refrigerator.
Sugar Free Pumpkin Bread And Cinnamon Cream Cheese

This bread can be served either warm or chilled. When the cinnamon cream cheese is added to a slice, the taste is similar to pumpkin cheesecake.

Bread Ingredients :

  • 1/3 cup plain non-fat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon non-fat sour cream
  • 2 cups of canned pumpkin
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups of Splenda No Calorie Sweetner granulated
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

Directions For Mixing & Baking :

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray two 9x5 inch loaf pans with butter-flavored cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Blend yogurt, sour cream, pumpkin, eggs and vegetable oil in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the flour, Splenda, baking powder and pumpkin pie spice. Stir well.
  4. Stir until just blended. Spread batter into prepared pans. Bake 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool for at least 30 minutes and then it's ready to wrap or serve.

Sugar Free Cinnamon Butter Ingredients & Mixing Directions :

  • 8 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 2/3 cup of Splenda No Calorie Sweetner granulated
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  1. Mix everything together and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Gift Options

Think of creative ways to deliver these goodies to friends and family. Wrap the breads in colored plastic wrap and tie with string and a bow. Ziploc offers a line of inexpensive containers with snap and seal lids. The smallest size is perfect for dividing the butters and cream cheeses into individualized servings.

The bread and condiment duo make a great gift all by themselves. However, consider placing a loaf of the bread along with a carton of flavored butter or cream cheese in a small gift basket and add a Christmas CD, book or DVD to the lot. Throw in some hot cocoa packets or flavored coffee for a beautiful brunch basket. The more that is added with it, the more creative and personalized the gift becomes. Give it a try. Have fun., but beware, this gift may be so well received, it may become a gift they ask for again and again.
